Too many tests going on in school that i need to focus just now, but it’s at the very least appropriate to mention that the Nokia and Microsoft Windows Phone deal is now 2 years old. Sea Ray/Lumia 800 that was the first product to spawn out of this deal was available starting from November 2011 for selected markets.
Now 2 years later Nokia is back in profits and controls the Windows Phone market. Even so, Windows Phone itself is still far away from iOS or Android and Nokia is still in decline when it comes to market share. According to Canalyst, Windows Phone only captured 2.4% of the smartphone sales in Q4 2012.
Windows Phone for Nokia was always about getting their own services integrated to the platform and the ability to dominate the platform. Again, Nokia is certainly dominating Windows Phone, but Windows Phone is simply still not selling in great numbers.
Do you think Nokia should have gone for Android, MeeGo/Qt or will the Windows Phone plan pay in the end?
