Surface Pro will start from $899

Microsoft has finally announced its pricing for the Intel based Surface Pro that will be in stores by January. Surface Pro 64GB model will be $899 and the 128GB is $999, Touch or Type Cover is not included so you will need to put extra ~ $100 for that. Surface Pro features Core i5 Processor, 1920×1080 pixels Clear Type screen, USB 3.0 port and much more.

Surface with Windows 8 Pro is all new, and yet you can do everything you’ve ever done on your PC. Touch-enhanced applications run as smoothly as your favorite desktop software, so you can work the way you want.

I was expecting slightly more aggressive pricing, something along the line of $100 less. I probably end up buying something else as i can already see how Microsoft wont have Surface Pro available for most of the Europe much of the next year and i’m not going through all of the hassle with customs, like i did on my Zune HD back in the day.

“Starting” from $899? WTF? No way! So disappointed….

Yeah it’s too bad. To me it still feels like MS themselves are their worst enemy.

I honestly think the X86 Windows 8 tablets are a great base for some awesome devices and MS would a have real fighting chance with Surface Pro, but they simply wont gather the market with those prices.

And before anybody says, yes the price is actually quite in line considering the specifications, but if Acer can deliver their i5 tablet at the same price, i would imaging Microsoft with no licensing costs could do better.
