Damian Dinning leaving Nokia

According to amateurphotographer.co.uk Damian Dinning is leaving Nokia by the end of this month. Damian Dinning has been involved with Minolta UK and Eastman Kodak before leaving to Nokia back in 2004. No successor for Dinning has yet to be announced.

Following the relocation of key strategic roles to Finland, and with great reluctance, Damian Dinning has made a personal decision to leave the company effective 30 November 2012. - AP

It really is a shame to lose such a guy like him and i’m sure we will not far from this hear about him joining another company. Time will tell what kind of influence him leaving Nokia will be to the company as one of the main focus points for Elop in his time in Nokia has been imaging and Nokia has indeed invested to that directly by buying Scalado. Not all have been perfect under Dinning’s time like the EDoF camera backlash, decision Dinning always defended. It was really the camera flagships that shined and brought the glory for Nokia as the camera phone king past 6 years. Phones like N93, N95, N86, N8, 808 PureView etc.

I wish him the very best of luck on whatever he is going to do and hope the people over at Tampere, Finland will keep coming out with innovations like OIS or the 808 PureView camera sensor just to mention some of most recent.

This is a major loss but then again, this keeps happening in the tech industry. The very talented get pushed out because they want to create but that freedom is usually taken away from them. I hope he joins the sailfish team!
