Nokia tablet delayed because of Surface RT?

According to Digitimes Nokia has delayed it’s Windows 8 RT tablet because of Surface RT. This is something not too hard to believe as Surface RT will likely to dominate Windows 8 running on ARM sales and many of the traditional PC manufacturers decided not to launch their Windows 8 ARM versions after Surface RT was announced and only concentrate on X86.

Nokia, which was originally set to launch a Windows RT tablet with cooperation from Compal Electronics, has also recently postponed the plans because of Surface RT, while the company also has no time to take care of its tablet product line. – Digitimes

Be it proper (X86) Windows 8 or Windows 8 RT tablet i really do hope we see one from Nokia. Nokia could have some interesting additions to the tablet race by introducing technologies like PureMotion HD+ (that includes Clear Black), Super Sensitive Touch and new fresh design. All those features would be even more present on a tablet compared to smartphone.

Nokia would be out of business soon if not for their deal with Microsoft so you must forgive them. Meego was not going to save the company, there is no room for a new phone OS. Going to Windows was the right move and in a few years everyone will see that Elop was right.
