HAIP (High Accuracy Indoor Positioning) is Nokia’s very own solution for indoor mapping that it has been working inside Nokia Labs for at least 3 years
This HAIP Tag passing FCC is not really even meant for us consumers. Picture below shows what it’s meant for.
This HAIP Tag (mode name LD-6T) is filed under confidential in FCC till December 31, 2012.
Nice thing about this is that Nokia is already building hardware using their HAIP technology so maybe we could find HAIP compatible hardware on our Nokia phones very soon? That combined with right software would be a winner.
Nokia promised back in 2011 that it will bring HAIP hardware by 2012.
Some more information about HAIP.
Certainly sounds impressive. Hopefully Nokia will be a bit more faster to execute this compared to 3D maps where we have seen Google and Apple taking much of the glory while Nokia has been openly building their very impressive 3D maps for years.
