W Phone 8 – Test out the Windows Phone 8 start screen now

Is that a Nokia Windows Phone 8 prototype or maybe 7.8 update that you have there? While i would not mind to have both it’s actually free app form Marketplace called W Phone 8 that simply gives you Windows Phone 8 start screen.
Icons on the app are actually active so tapping phone will take you on to that application. You can also resize the tiles and change theme colour.

Do you like the new Windows Phone 8 start screen? If you do, then wait no more! This app is a very realistic simulation of the new start screen. You can resize into the new small and large tiles, “install” apps and change theme colour! Design your favourite layout and show off to your friends before Windows Phone 8 is here!

Impt note: this app is a simulation and its just for fun. It is not created by Microsoft and is in no way related to the company.

    Is this exactly like the start screen coming with 7.8 (no limitations etc) or will the lower layers of 7.5 mean that it isn’t quite the same?

      It’s not really comparable to the real deal as it’s just a application and wont replace the actual home screen.
      Tiles flip and are animated, but they are not actually dynamic and fetch information from your actual phone. You can’t either put new apps there.

      It’s some minutes fun testing maybe how you would set it up, that’s about it. It’s free so no harm done there.
