Lumia 910 with 12 MP camera does not exist

Eldar has some bad track record with his latest rumors. That 12 MP equipped Lumia 910 rumored by Eldar has been denied by Damian Dinning, Nokia’s leading camera guru. While at it Damian Dinning did also confirm that the camera module is the same on N9, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900, while the Lumia 900 will have an updated software effecting the camera.

So what will Nokia have in show when MWC lands later this month? Do you think N8 successor could really be in the cards?

Never believed those rumors about the 910. It doesn’t make any sense to announce an upgraded Lumia 900 for Europe. Our yankee friends would have been really pis*ed off.

“So what will Nokia have in show when MWC lands later this month? Do you think N8 successor could really be in the cards?”

I really hope so! And it would be the perfect time to announce it, since the other big players won’t announce their flagship devices there (except HTC, but who cares about them?). Sony has showed the Xperia S/ION at CES and will just announce some mid-range Android phones (Sony P and U) in Spain. The Galaxy S3 will have it’s own show later on, so it’s missing at MWC. And if the N8 successors camera is really as good as some rumors point, then this is a great opportunity for Nokia to gain some hype.

Some clarification by Damian. Seems he got misinterpreted by saying doesn’t exist.

“Hi, it would seem a number of aspects have been reported somewhat out of context here which I’d like to address if I may.

What I specifically said does ‘not exist’ is an AT&T Lumia 900 with a 12mp camera. The Lumia 900 DOES however feature a Carl Zeiss 8mp camera. The context here was that I was being asked whether there was a 12mp version of the Lumia 900. To that I stated it ‘does not exist’. I thought that would have been clearer than simply stating it’s an error. In fact, when I looked into this further it was in fact a website which is not AT&T’s website but a website which it would seem has since become aware of the error and corrected it.

As for ‘confirms a Lumia 910 does exist’, I never made any such statement. I don’t comment on speculation or rumours.

    I trust that clarifies things.

    Damian Dinning”
